Report: Russia’s Vekselberg mulls buying Onexim stake in RUSAL

MOSCOW, Sep 2 (PRIME) -- Russian billionaire businessman Viktor Vekselberg is weighing the purchase of a stake in aluminum giant UC RUSAL from Mikhail Prokhorov’s Onexim Group, Vekselberg told Bloomberg on Friday.

The acquisition is being “seriously considered,” Vekselberg said, declining to give any details on the terms of a potential deal.

Onexim made informal approaches this year to sell its 17% stake to two other RUSAL partners – Sual, a group led by Vekselberg, and Glencore Plc, people said in July, asking not be identified because the discussions were private, Bloomberg reported.
